Annual Adjustment of Civil Monetary Penalties To Reflect Inflation—2021

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission amends its regulations to adjust the maximum civil monetary penalties under the Commodity Exchange Act for inflation. This final rule implements the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act by applying a cost-of-living adjustment multiplier to existing penalty amounts. The new penalty limits apply to violations occurring on or after November 2, 2015, for penalties assessed after January 15, 2021.
