Recommendation of the European Systemic Risk Board on closing real estate data gaps

National macroprudential authorities are recommended to implement risk monitoring frameworks for residential and commercial real estate sectors using specified indicators such as loan-to-value and debt-to-income ratios. The document mandates annual monitoring for residential real estate and at least quarterly monitoring for commercial real estate, including detailed breakdowns by property type and location. It also encourages the European Supervisory Authorities to publish annual aggregated data on commercial real estate activities and advises coordination with the AnaCredit project for data implementation.
