Rule · CVM · 16 Apr 1999
This revoked regulation established the obligations for financial institutions to identify and register clients, record transactions, and monitor operations to prevent money laundering and the concealment of assets. It mandated specific data collection for individuals and legal entities, required transaction records for securities valued at or above 10,000 reais, and imposed a five-year retention period for all records. The instruction defined politically exposed persons and required enhanced due diligence for their transactions, while also outlining specific operational red flags that triggered mandatory reporting to the regulatory authority.
